March’s Board Meeting was held today at the Rock Springs Library. Member chairs gathered to discuss donation distribution along with upcoming events, current projects updates, ideas on fun raising & Club awarnessness intentions. The challenge of the meeting was our speaker system was not working which made the meeting difficult to hear what was being said. The next board Meeting will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 @10:30am at the Rock Springs Library on C street.
Today’s Busy Hands was BUSY!! Plenty of projects to work on today:Task Boxes for the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center, many Crochet designs to choose from, Loom Knitting, & Needle Point. A donated laptop to the Club helped our left-handers with videos to watch explaining stitches. Several members attended today’s section to enjoy the friendliness in learning new crafts & to assist in make items for donation (also to delight in some homemade cookies and ice cream). The general meeting for GFWC Woman’s Club of Rock Springs was held at White Mountain Library on February 20th. The meeting was a potluck with members bringing many delicious foods. The speaker was Barbra Smith a professor emeritus at Western Wyoming Community College who currently does memoir writing classes through the college which are held at Young at Heart. Our February General Meeting will be a Potluck Lunch Meeting, Tuesday, February 20 @ 11:30am at the White Mountain Library (2935 Sweetwater Dr, Rock Springs) Poet and essayist Barbara Smith will be our guest speaker. She is a professor emeritus at Western Wyoming Community College who has done writing workshops and classes with topics of memoir writing classes. Come join us and get a glimpse of what we are doing for our community.
The Literature section of the WCRS was held today in the Ferrero room at the Rock Springs Library. Members met to discuss a book or books that they have read and expressed their opinions, likes, dislikes, & recommended books that they enjoy. These books were in the form of paperbacks/hardcover along with Kindle & audio books on tape. The Literature section met for about an hour with enticing heart shaped doughnuts & coffee. Betty Auld presenting Emily Ice this this years Spring Grant 2018 check. Each year the Woman’s Club of Rock Springs gives out grants to students at Western Wyoming Community College. Grants totaling $1000 are given out each fall and spring semester, divided between the number of approved grant recipients. Applicants should be prepared to write a paragraph about what they have achieved and what they hope to achieve in college. Non-traditional students are also encouraged to apply. Many members & guests attended this month’s Garden Club which was held today in the Ferrero room at the Rock Springs Library. Our member speaker was Rue Marie Finney who demonstrated flower arranging and supplied us all with flowers and a wide variety of assorted decorative items.
