Club members had a great time at this year’s International Day Celebration! We helped raise money for the Stagecoach Elementary inclusive playground and spread the word about our organization and living the volunteer spirit!
Our club has been helping to raise money for a planned playground at Stagecoach Elementary with adaptive equipment for special needs students. The club donated a basket for the raffle at the Maggie Springs Run. This year’s event benefits two children with serious medical conditions that require extensive treatment.
“Ride for the Patch” is a fundraiser supporting the family of Alexander Harsha, who tragically died in a recent oilfield accident. The event will be July 19, at the Pour House, 1521 9th St. in Rock Springs. Registration begins at 9am, kick stands up at 10am. Club members put together this basket as part of the raffle to raise money for this local family.

The GFWC of Wyoming, our state level organization, won multiple awards this year. Locally, we were presented with the prestigious Arizola Magnenat award from Wyoming Writers, Inc. This award commemorates individuals or organizations that have encouraged writers in Wyoming. The club was nominated for our “Authors and Artists” events in Laramie and Rock Springs, and for our annual literary contest. Internationally, the state club won awards in multiple categories:
Club members have been saving lids and caps for the White Mountain Library’s summer checkout art project! When kids checkout books over the summer, they receive a lid to add to the community project. Swing by the library and see their creativity for yourself! The club has already gathered about 400 lids so far.
Our club once again donated a basket to raise money for scholarships to the Wyoming Writers, Inc. annual conference! This year’s donation was a lovely wine basket!
Congratulations to club member Maggie Choate, whose design in White Mountain Library’s bookmark design contest for National Library Week won in the adult age category! Look how adorable it is!
